Louisiana Saltwater Fishing Tackle | Venice Yellowfin Tuna & Marlin Guide

Louisiana Saltwater Fishing: Season & Tackle Guide

Venice sits at the mouth of the Mississippi River and puts Louisiana anglers closer to blue water than almost anywhere else on the Gulf — deep canyons, current breaks, and rig structure that produce yellowfin tuna nearly every month of the year.

Peak Seasons

  • Yellowfin Tuna: Fishable year-round out of Venice, with October–March producing the biggest, least-pressured fish and April–September running steadier numbers of mixed sizes.
  • Red Snapper: Louisiana sets its own state-waters season, typically opening around May 1 and running into summer.
  • Blue Marlin: Summer (roughly June–September) is prime time at the canyons and rigs off the Mississippi River delta.
  • Redfish & Speckled Trout: Productive year-round in the marsh, with the fall run (October–December) the most consistent bite.
